It would be a good idea to work in the mobile phone field with an insight to working out some software that will reveal more and more deleted content from mobiles.
At the moment, there are loads of phones with different OS's. It would be nice for a single piece of software to plug into a phone that will read all the data on it.
Its just an idea....

Hi guys, I am also looking for ideas for my MSc dissertation topic which I need to start asap. I thought about writing on Cybercrime Profiling but am worried that I might not be able to get enough information on the topic.
My limitations are that I do not have programming skills, therefore am looking for a topic that would not involve writing any programs or software, but a topic that would involve coming up with a methodology or framework.
Please help me with ideas, am desparate!!
I am currently an intern working as a forensic examiner and using EnCase version 6 almost on a daily basis.
Thanks
Agufa.

Here is one for you:
A friend of mine is interested in getting a tool written that will search a network for various things, (internet history, certain emails, images, documents etc).
Here is the main problem.
He wants it to be 'invisible'.
This tool should be on a memory stick, (plug in the memory stick, run an executable, store data on the same memory stick), but should it be stolen, the tool should NOT be found on it, nor the results of the search. If the memory card was plugged into a computer, either nothing should be found on it, (it should look as though there is nothing there), or perhaps the executable could be held within another file, perhaps an MP3 file or something like that to hide what the
I imagine that now you see why this is a problem?
If anyone can come up with this, there is a market for it. I would be glad to market it under the Disklabs brand!

Simon

Hi Simon, im new to this and due to start my student life at De Monfort University this month, the thing is you said something about keeping the program hidden would this be something like Steganography?
Also i am keen to learn as much as i possibly can within the computing forensics field and even possibly the security side as well (hopfully they will go hand in hand), could you possibly give any good reads to start wih for uni.
Thank you
Thomas

Onintks,
Its not steganography, its different. Steganography is hiding something within another file. Ideally, the file I am talking about should be invisible, (to both someone checking the properties of the memory stick and someone interrogating the memory stick).
This way, if an 'agent' has to retrieve certain data and is found in posession of a memory stick, when its interrogated, nothing would be found.
Its complicated, but hopefully you get what I am on about?

Simon

Hi guys after some advise here, I am due to start studying 2 of the modules from the Msc at Westminster! I have been working in IT as a network/IT engineer for the last 5 years so have experience there!
Hence the only letting me study 2 modules to see how I go, but from your point of view how tricky is it to study
Fundamentals of computer systems forensics and computer forensic technologies?
I am a very quick learner and do enjoy doing research etc but haven been to college since 8 years ago!! So do you think I will find it too hard personally??
Would really appreciate some responses guys
Cheers,
Neil :)
