Hi,
I've erased file accidentally and I need to restore it by now. There is much soft now for that purpose, but I wish to use the most reliable one, as the file is important for me. What can you recommend? OS XP, NTFS
hi Terry,
although looking at the date of your post its likely no use to yourself now,
for others reading here, the general advice would be:
If the data are valuable:
stop using the drive, contact a pro data recovery service, give them a brief outline of your story and get advice and a price.
Recovery software is often good, but the real skill is operating it, and from a hardware environment that can cope. This is what you pay for in terms of reliability of result from a Data Recovery Co.
If you think this is expensive, work out the comparative "DIY" cost. The price of the s/w, the time you would need to take recovering it, the extra drivespace you may need to buy and the value of the lost data should you make matters worse and further recovery impossible.
If the data are only of interest value or you can't afford pro services:
First of all choose a data recovery package, and read the instructions thoroughly.
If you think it suits your level of competence buy it.
Follow the instructions very carefully.
Don't seek to blame anyone if the files aren't findable, recoverable, or you screw up.
Above and beyond that it would be foolhardy for anyone to try and advise further, as each case has its own merits and drawbacks, as do software packages.
Losing valuable data can be heart wrenching, so i wish you a sincere "good luck".
hope this helps guide anyone else in need of the same sort of advice.
cheers

For restoring your data from NTFS file system you can use Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery Software. It works for both FAT & NTFS file system. A good utility which helped me in recovering 60GB of my data.
If you want to try you can download the demo version of the utility from www .stellarinfo.com/partition-recovery.htm
The demo shows the preview of the recovered data.
